COUNTY FAIR

Leann loves going to the country fair. She participated in the sewing category when she was younger and even won a blue ribbon. I grew up in a small town near the fair location and it was always the big event of the year. We took the kids a few times but Leann has been pushing me to go again. I promised that I would go after I retired, I keep my promises.

There are a lot more food choices than when I was a kid.
You have to have rides but we did not partake. We went mid week so it was not crowded.
Leann likes animals so this is her favorite part of the fair. We both thought it would be cool to have chickens and goats but not very practical.
I saw they had a barn of draft horses so I wanted to see them. They are huge. We got to see one take a dump. Reminded me of Jack Palance in the move City Slickers: “I crap bigger than you.”
We saw the movie at the Movie Manor in Colorado. The hotel is behind the drive in and they piped the sound to your room. It is now a Best Western and looks nicer than when we visited:

  • I have 3 memories of this hotel:
  • We had a great grilled ham dinner and the best potatoes anywhere
  • The girls did not cooperate for dinner and fussed the entire time.
  • Jamie was crawling and we could not keep her out of the bathroom. She kept going in there and playing behind the toilet. Makes sense now since she is a chemical engineer.
No county fair would be complete without a giant pumpkin.

HAPPY TRAILS, STEVE
