On the first day of a long van trip, I saw a sign for Big Muskie. We decided to stop and take a look. Pre retirement we would have not taken the time. This is the world’s largest dragline excavator built in 1969 for the coal industry in Southern Ohio. The size of the excavator and amount of dirt moved is mind boggling.
The surface mined land was converted to the Wilds one of the largest conservation centers in North America. Our nephew was a tour guide at the facility.
