ZION NP: KOLOB CANYON

110 Trails? Maybe we should do all of them.

We have not been to Zion National park since the girls were young. We avoided going back since the crowds are legendary and we do not enjoy hiking surrounded by other people. We looked at the map and realized the Kolob Canton area of Zion was only an hour drive from camp. We decided to get up early and see if we could avoid the crowds. That strategy worked for the most part.

There was only one other car when we arrived at the trailhead for our first hike, the lot was full when we got back.

The early morning sun made the color of the rock really pop. The color was not digitally manipulated.

Just to provide scale, you can see Leann at the bottom of this picture.

We followed the creek up the canyon until we hit a stone wall (natural) and turned around.

It’s not hard to guess why Zion is so popular.
