GREENWAY TRAIL

May 2, 2021

One of our favorite bike trails is the Greenway trail that runs for 43 miles from Warren to Ashtabula. The Greenway is a section of the planned 110 mile Great Lake to river trail that will go from Lake Erie to the banks of the Ohio River near East Liverpool. The Greenway section is flat and paved the entire way. There are numerous trail heads, benches and picnic tables along the route.

We usually do the section from North of Warren to Orwell, Ohio. We hit the trail around 9:30 hoping to beat the crowds, afternoon heat and winds. We got lucky for most of the ride but by the end all 3 were picking up.

Lots of tree cover for most of the ride
This is the 500 acre addition to the Mosquito Creek Wildlife area, there are some benches here and we decided it was a nice place to have lunch. We ate and watched Great Blue Herons while they ate.
This is not too far from our turnaround spot in Orwell. This section ends at 322, take a left and go a mile and you can stop by Dairy Queen, it was tempting.

At some point we will have to go farther north and south but this section is hard to beat.
