BLAZE: STEP 5

AKA: The Easy Part

As mentioned earlier I was not comfortable cutting a bunch of holes in our brand new van. Turns out we needed 6 holes in the van and I did not have to worry about making the cuts. Leann was not letting me anywhere near our new van with a metal saw.

I was also not comfortable working on the electrical where I could burn down the van if I screwed up. Early on we made the decision to pay somebody to do these parts for us. I found a company in Florida that does custom vans and was willing to do what we needed. They were super to work with until I was ready to schedule the work and give them money. I sent an e-mail to schedule, owner responded that they were ready to go and he would have one of his “guys” contact me to schedule. Never happened. Leann called the office, the person said they would make sure the right people called to get us scheduled. It never happened. Now what?

Leann found a company South of Columbus that was also great to work with and willing to do smaller projects. Key difference, they were ready, willing and able to take our money. We drove down Sunday mid afternoon so we could drop off BLAZE when they opened Monday morning and then I could go back to work (took 1/2 day vacation)

This is a bus they did for CSPN @ $1,200,000. The other extreme is a project that only took an hour. Our project is a lot closer to the second choice than the first.

They periodically send us pictures showing the progress, I can’t wait to pick it up. We will have a lot of work to do on it but it should be fun, famous last words.
