BLAZE: STEP 6

Exciting times, we picked up Blaze from Creative Mobile Interiors. They cut lots of holes in the van, better them than me.

1: Vent for toilet 2) 30 amp connection for when we stay at a park with electrical 3) Tern overland awning windows, we wanted windows that could stay open when it’s raining. 4) roof rack for solar panels
Solar panels: 380 total watts. Air conditioner on top and fan on the bottom
Final electrical layout after I made a few changes, AKA kept changing my mind
1) Battle Born 100 Ah Lithium Batteries, we started with 6 and decided to go with 4. 2) Victron Multi-plus Inverter Charger 3) DC to DC charger, we ordered an extra alternator for the van and these are used to charge the batteries when the engine is running 4) Charge controller for the solar panels 5) smart battery protect I was impressed with the quality of their work, I can’t imagine how long this would have taken us and how much we would have to do over.
This is an Espar heater placed under the passenger seat. It runs off gasoline from the fuel tank and is very efficient. All of the combustion is outside the van so no worries about fumes etc. These have been used in trucks for years (diesel version) to heat the cab when truckers are sleeping. We picked up the van on a cold, wet day and they had the heater running. I was amazed how warm it kept the van, even without insulation.

Blaze is back in our driveway and now we have lots of work to do. Next step insulation.
