BLAZE STEP 8

A heated garage tall enough to fit the van would be really nice. Two big snowfalls low temps are slowing down our progress.
Sammy is geared up for a hike. He gets cold so Leann made him a very stylish coat. He is also wearing boots to protect his feet from ice. Is it just me or doesn’t he look very happy about it?

One of many things we agreed on with the van design was the bed. We wanted a full time, comfortable bed. We did not want to assemble it at night and dis-assemble it in the morning. A futon would have made more sense due to space but we opted for the bed and memory foam mattress. Let’s be comfortable.

We used IPS for the bed frame, might be overkill but this bed will be travelling 70 MPH and over some rough roads. I want to make sure it stays together.
We test fit the plywood where the mattress will sit, needs a little trimming. We will polyurethane to protect it, OK Leann will.
I decided to add more supports. We test fit the assembly and then take out the screws and apply blue Loctite (242) so the fasteners do not vibrate loose. I thought about using the red version but that is permanent and I am not that confident. I wanted to use Loctite since vans going down the road are called earthquakes on wheels.

Progress is slow but we are moving forward. This has to be done by May so we can use the van for a week long trip of bird watching.
