STATE FOREST

We liked the camping here. We visited late in the season so the campground was mostly empty. Downside of being late in the season, it is colder and gets dark early. The shelter and portable heater came in handy.

We stayed at Ranger Lakes Campground that is surrounded by mountains and hiking trails.

We arrived to camp late in the day after driving from Dinosaur National Monument so we just did a short hike around Ranger Lakes.

The next day we had a long hike planned using Gold Loop, Lake Agnes and 7 Utes trail. It was going to be a long day.

Looks like we are on the right path.

The picture does not do the trail justice, it was steep and rocky.

Lake Agnes is just behind Leann.

First look at Lake Agnes

The effort to get here was worth it.

It’s all downhill from here, famous last words.

State Forest is just North of Rocky Mountain National Park, you get similar views but far fewer people.

There were still some leaves on the Aspen trees.

We will definitely return and spend more time

HAPPY TRAILS, STEVE
