I met a previous co -worker for drinks and dinner at Ray’s Place.
Three years of blogging and I never mentioned Ray’s Place. Boston has Cheers, Kent has Ray’s. Founded in 1937, Ray’s is known for it’s beer selection, food and clientele.

BEER
Ray’s is usually rated in the top 5 restaurants for beer selection in NE Ohio. The local brewery MadCap makes a Ray’s Hop Odyssey that might be the best IPA I ever tasted. Yes, I have tried a few of them.
FOOD
After Hop Odyssey was served Scott asked what I was getting for dinner. I said I always look at the menu and end up ordering the same thing: The Cuban. He said, me too

The Mo-Fo Burger, Iron Chef Michael Symon says it is in his the top 5 burgers of all time. Double bacon cheeseburger with sauteed mushrooms and the works.

CLIENTELE
Clientele is a mix of college students, professors, business people and townies. At a certain point in my life I checked 3 of the 4 boxes. No shock but I never taught at Kent. Leann did, does that count?
The Christmas lights were still on as I walked back to the car.

QUICK UPDATE
We decided to meet again after a month. I swore to myself that I would not get the Cuban. I ordered a turkey burger and sweet potato fries. The fries were really good but the Cuban is way better than the turkey burger. Looks like I am back to the Cuban on my next visit.

HAPPY TRAILS, STEVE
