We were vesting my family outside of Houston and were headed to Big Bend national Park. That was a 10 hour drive which is more than we want to do unless we are headed home. I was looking for something in the middle and found Garner.
It is good to travel in shoulder season. The park has over 300 campsites but most were empty.

This is the first campground we visited that had putt putt golf.

Nice view of the Frio River, it runs through the park for 2.9 miles.

The hike up was rocky and steep but not very high. Can you really call 1849 feet a summit?
