PRESQUE ISLE

We met our friends for a day of kayaking and biking at Presque Isle State Park which is North of Erie, Pa.

We did the kayak part first and put in at Misery Bay (#1), what a name for a bay. It was not miserable. We then worked our way trough the ponds (#2) and over to Marina Lake (#3). Next step was open water (#4) then around Perry’s monument to the starting point.
We went through lots of Lilly Pads to start the trip.
Leann and Anita at lunch spot. The guy behind them caught a nice large mouth bass
Perry’s Monument: interesting that there is one in Pennsylvania and one in Ohio. I teased my friends that the Ohio one was taller. I checked and the one in Ohio is 352 feet, Pennsylvania’s is 101 feet. The monuments celebrate Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry‘s victory over the British during the War of 1812 at the battle of Lake Erie
On to the bike portion of the day, the bike trail was nice but there were people everywhere. None of them seem to know where they were going except it seemed they were trying to hit us. People are oblivious. We all survived and agreed to go back but in the middle of the week. I noticed looking at this picture we are all riding Cannondale bikes. They use to have a large bike plant in Pennsylvania but closed it and moved to China.
