BLAZE IS DONE? Walls and windows, this is a little out of order. After installing insulation and a vapor barrier, we then added a frame we could use to attach the ship lap. This originally was going to be plywood for the final finish. Getting that first piece cut correctly and aligned with our mounting holes turned out to be a nightmare. We went with plan B. The windows were a pain since the walls slope top to bottom. There is not one right angle in this entire van. I am not a patient man (ask Leann) and this drove me crazy. We decided to use ship lap and no we are not going to have multi color walls. Leann is the painter and will put on a final coat when we are done banging around. Walls are done, this is starting to look like something we can actually use. Even though it was plan B, I think the walls turned out better than if we had used plywood. We wanted all of our water in the van so it will not freeze and we plan on camping in cold weather. The stainless steel cans (2 on the right) are for fresh water and the plastic one is for grey water. We will just dump and fill as needed. Once again we are keeping it simple so there is less to go wrong on a long trip. We picked stainless since who wants to drink water that has been sitting in a plastic container for a week? Our new “kitchen”, I think this is about the same size as the stove in our house, maybe smaller. We plan to do most of our cooking outside but we have an electric skillet when the weather does not cooperate. I mounted and wired these switches by the sliding door, they control the LED lights. We double checked the toilet and fridge position before installing the walls. We picked the Nature’s Head composting toilet. These are very popular since no water is needed. This also eliminates the smelly black tank which nether one of us wanted to mess with. http://natureshead.net/ Pantry walls are done, Leann bought fabric for a “bathroom” screen. We plan to leave the front of the cabinets open, we will see how that works View from the front looking back, ready for a road trip? Let’s get this baby on the road!
