BIKE UPDATE

We have been trying to find new bikes for almost 2 years. We put the search on hold until next year. Most bike companies closed their US bike plants and import from overseas (mainly China) and now they don’t have bikes to sell.

We were getting ready for a bike ride on the Greenway Trail when I noticed the bottom of my bike shoe was about to fall off. Duct tape and construction glue to the rescue. This worked for today’s ride, but it might be time to get a new pair.
We are still riding the Cannondale CADX cycle cross bikes we bought 12 years ago. Cannondale use to have a 270,00 sf bike plant in Bedord, PA. Not anymore.
Since we put the bike search on hold until next year, I still wanted to make my current bike more comfortable. My plan was to raise the handlebar and bring them back a little. I took it to our local bike shop Eddy’s. I had an idea, but they suggested this pivot for $60, looks like it will work and it is adjustable. For another $60 they threw on this seat. Stay tuned for reports on a hopefully revised comfort level.

We did a ride and the changes to my bike worked like a charm. Maybe our 2 year wait for new bikes will end next year or maybe we say the hell with it and keep riding our old bikes.

IT’S A MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!

It only took 3 years but we were finally able to get our hands on new bikes. We went with the Specialized Diverge, we made a great choice. The bikes handle well and are comfortable to ride. We also had to buy a new bike rack for Blaze since the old one did not have enough clearance.
Celebration of new bikes did not last long. On my third ride I noticed my right shoe was loose in the clips. I pulled over to see what the problem might be. The top of the shoe was 90% separated from the bottom of the shoe. I was almost to my turnaround spot so I was as far away from the car as I could be. The shoe held together until I was about 3 miles from the car and then totally separated. I was able to limp back to the car. The left shoe had failed previously (see above) so I decided it was time to buy a new pair.

The local bike shop loves me. I walk in and everyone yells Steve! I feel like Norm in the TV show Cheers. (just kidding).

Leann put our old bikes on Facebook market place and they both sold within 3 days.
