MORRISON RIMROCK BACKPACK & APPLE FRITTERS

This was a trip through one of our Meetup groups. You had a choice to either kayak or hike into the camping area. The organizer brought everything he needed to make deep fried Apple Fritters. They were very good. He posted an upcoming trip where he will fry chicken wings you bring and will also provide French fries. I’m going!

We are headed back to the site of our first ever backpack trip.

This is info from Google and none of the names sound very good.

  • Eastern Destroying Angel: A stark white to ivory mushroom with a smooth cap that grows commonly in mixed hardwood and coniferous forests in eastern North America.
  • Death Cap: While typical death caps have a greenish tint, pale or white variations can closely resemble all-white species.

We had campsite #19, it was a winner: big, private and not far from the water source. The view as also pretty good.

Thai soup, sausage creole (Leann made) and RedVolution for dinner. Frtters for desert. Not exactly roughing it.

There was no rain but the dew point was so low that our tent was soaked like it had been raining all weekend.

Morrison Run

Most people hiked in but there was at least one kayak and one canoe.

The fire felt good

Headed back to the car.

The squiggly patterns on the log are feeding tunnels carved into the wood by wood-boring beetle larvae: Emerald Ash Borer or native bark beetles.

Shaggy Mane, also known as the lawyer’s wig or shaggy ink cap
