A WEEKEND IN THE WOODS

ALLEGHENY NATIONAL FOREST:

AUGUST 14-15, 2021

Lots of fungus on the trail, the one on the far left is Ghost Pipe (AKA Indian Pipe).
Sammy chilling at camp, 13 years old and still loves to go. We hiked in 7 miles and got to camp around 1:30 and just relaxed the rest of the day
Big Agnes Copper Spur UL3, plenty of room for all of us and yes Sammy sleeps inside and usually ends up on me.
I set up the tarp just in case, fortunately we did not need it. This is a Jacks R Better catenary tarp, easy to pitch and tight as a drum.
Appetizer, Sammy also likes these (combos) and knows the sound of the crinkling bag.
Leann’s homemade SW Lasagna, just add water, wait a few minutes and eat. She does a great job making all of our backpacking dinners.
In the middle of the night we heard 3 Barred Owls calling, one was very close to our tent. They were making a racket and we loved it.
Beautiful morning in the woods
Leann headed out from camp.
Red Eft which is the juvenile stage for the Eastern newt. We saw lots of them.

Another great weekend in the woods, sure beats mowing the yard but I had to do that when we got home.
