We discussed options and decided to do a section of the North Country Trail starting in Kellettville. We had not been on this section of trail so we were looking forward to seeing something new.
This was our route for the 2 days. We were potentially camping at the Four Mile Run Campsite but decided to make that decision after we saw the campsite.

Hard to believe this area was deforested, the trees made a come back.

BIG BOULDER SHELTER

This was a nice place to stop for lunch.

This is the Big Boulder near the shelter.

There were additional massive boulders we walked through. I always thought these were glacial erratic’s. Apparently the jury is still out: some say they are they are not from glaciers but broken-off chunks of ancient conglomerate and sandstone. Others say they are from glaciers.

Wherever they came from this section of trail was covered with them.

We must be getting close to our campsite.

We both liked the campsite. We were still tired from a long bike ride and a nice campsite in hand won versus another 4 miles.

I splurged and carried the Big Agnes 3 person tent, it was a palace. Leann crawled in and decided to take a nap. She is always on the go, I told her backpacking forces here to relax. She did not disagree.

The creek was about 30 feet from our tent. Leann said it was almost too loud.
This rock looks like a remnant when the entire area was part of an inland sea.

One more giant boulder and then back to the car.

HAPPY TRAILS, STEVE
