KENNERDELL TRACT BACKPACKING TRIP

Our MeetUp group posted an overnight backpacking trip to the Kennerdell Tract in Clear Creek State Forest in Pennsylvania. Sounded like fun for our first trip of the year so we joined.

This is where we started.

I told the group we would meet them at camp since we wanted to get an earlier start.

Here is the route we took:

1: Ridge Trail

2: Blunder Trail: This was a blunder, this section of trail sucked with lots of rocks and standing water

3: River Trail to Danner Campground

Dennison Run

Allegheny River

Danner is an established campground with picnic tables and vault toilets. There is a high flowing spring near camp so we did not have to filter from the Allegheny. It is a popular stop for people paddling the river.

The state forest had a ban on camp fires so a few members put up some lights for ambience. We did luck out on the weather since a warm front moved through before our trip. Before that the weather was looking pretty bleak (cold and wet).

Leann wanted to hike out on the pipeline trail, it was steep.

I LOVE BACKPACKING, STEVE
