MISSISSIPPI NATIONAL RIVER & RECREATION AREA

ESTABLISHED: NOVEMBER 18, 1988

ACRES: 54,000

RIVER MILES: 72

We set a record for our fastest visit to a national park site. We usually like to get the full experience, not here. There was construction everywhere and the only parking we saw was garages with 8 foot max height., Blaze would not fit. Even with the GPS we drove by the site twice before we realized where it was. After the second drive by I got lucky and found anend spot in a parallel parking section.

Apparently we had to download an app to pay for parking, no thanks. Let’s risk it and check out the site.

  • Here is what we did
    • National Park sign, CHECK
    • T Rex picture, CHECK
    • Got passport stamp, CHECK
    • Took 2 pictures of the river, CHECK
    • Took picture of the Covington Inn, a historic 1946 towboat converted into a floating bed and breakfast. It is moored on the Mississippi River at Harriet Island in St. Paul, Minnesota. CHECK
    • Got the hell out of there

We have a lot of parks to see in major cities. We will probably see these using trains and Uber. Blaze is not made for big cities.

HAPPY TRAILS, STEVE
