CARTER CAVES CROSS COUNTRY TRAIL

CARTER CAVES STATE PARK

KENTUCKY

We planned a van trip to Nevada and one of our MEETUP groups posted a trip to Grayson Lake State Park in Kentucky. It was close to the time we planned on starting our road trip so we decided to start our trip in Kentucky. They were all taking kayaks but we did not want to lug those all around the west so we left them at home. While they kayaked, we hiked at Carter Caves.

But first our campsite in Grayson Lake, we liked it.

Leann has found memories of visiting Carter Caves on camping trips with her family. She remembers the cave tour, maybe that is where she fell in love with caves.

I used All Trails to find a hike and we headed to the park.

This is the entrance to the cave tour.

The layers of rock could really tell a story to a Geologist but not me. I just enjoyed the view.

After our hike we headed back to Grayson for dinner and talk around the camp fire. It was a great start to our trip west.

HAPPY TRAILS, STEVE
