CORONADO

NATIONAL MEMORIAL

Coronado commemorates the first organized expedition to the Southwest. The expedition was led by Francisco Vázquez de Coronado in 1540. The expedition included 339 European soldiers and hundreds of Aztecs. The expedition resulted in a new civilization in the American Southwest.

We visited here on an escape from Ohio trip in January.

Apparently we did not escape far enough from Ohio.

Leann visited Mexico for this picture.

The only other mammals we saw on this hike.
