Black Forest Trail in North Central Pennsylvania has the distinction of being the most scenic and the hardest hike in Pennsylvania. It is a 42 mile loop up steep climbs and down rocky descents. Your effort is rewarded with numerous waterfalls and mountain top views. We completed the loop multiple times, first as a 4 day trip and more recently as a 3 day trip. We like the 3 day version better since you end up at better campsites after a long day on the trail. Here is a good trail description by Mid Atlantic hikes, no reason for me to reinvent the wheel.
