Dolly Sods Wilderness also known as ‘THE SODS” is a special place. I read a lot about it and decided to take a 3 day backpacking trip with the family. I fell in love with the place. Wide open views, rock formation, creeks water falls and swimming holes. All in all a great place to spend the weekend. We liked this area so much we went back a few weeks later with friends and have been back multiple times.

DOLLY SODS 2010
We returned to the SODS again in 2010. We started this 3 day trip in the northern section by Bear Rocks and hiked south to Red Creek
This was a fall trip and the foliage color was spectacular
The northern sods is known for wide open views
Nice campsite on the upper fork of Red Creek
Scrambling on rocks is more fun without a heavy backpack
